Tip of the Week – Resumes – June 17/24

Resumes:  Your resume is the first thing that gets you through the door.

Questions to Ponder:

How does your resume compare to others?

Does your resume have a professional feel to it?

Does it reflect you in it?

There are many examples online for resume’s.  Have a look at some of them and see which style resonates the most with you.

Find one or a few different ones that have a very professional approach and take excerpts from it and then personalize it for your own.

Take time to make your resume.  Once it is complete, have people you know and trust review it and critique it.

Always include references – that is an important piece for prospective employers.

Be honest with your experience.

Include volunteer experience, if you have some.

Add your hobbies / activities.  That shows a lot about a person.

Whatever your experience, you can make a kickass resume – it all depends on the time you spend making it your own and making it something that peaks others interest in getting to know you better!
