Tip of the Week – Job Interviews – June 24/24

Job Interviews:  There are many ways to prepare for your job interview, once you have been chosen as a candidate for a position.

There are many great tools on the internet to research different questions and scenarios.

More and more companies are doing process that involves many different steps.  They conduct a questionnaire (which could be timed or by video), a video conference call, personality or behavioral test that provides different scenarios, different skill tests, and then finally an in person interview or possibly even two.

The process now can take months to get a job vs days or weeks which can be a little frustrating.

Nevertheless, you should be prepared and do a bit of research online regarding the company, so you can ask your own questions and have some background information on the company, in case they ask you on your knowledge about them.

As this is the interview process, remember you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you to see if it is a fit for you and your standards.  Have some questions prepared for them around benefits, pension, and the regular information that you should know about prior to accepting a position.  I also encourage you to ask questions about morale, teamwork, training, and more pointed questions about the company – get their feedback.

You spend more time at work than anywhere else in your life – so make it important to know the environment you will be working in, as that affects your life too!

Remember to relax and enjoy the process – being stressed or nervous can affect the way you answer questions.

Also note, that a lot of companies check your online presence to see what you are about and if you are a fit for their company – be conscientious of this when you are posting things online.

Questions to Ponder:

How does the interview process affect you?

How can you make the process easier on yourself?

How can you enjoy the process?
