Tip of the Week – Yard Cleanup – July 22/24

Yard Cleanup:  Now that summer weather has finally shown up, winter has left and the rainy spring seems to have let up, what does your yard look like at work?

Take a walk or drive around the compound, the grounds and see if it needs some general housekeeping.

Throughout the winter, some things can get a little messy – garbage lying around – like empty cups, napkins, all sorts of different kinds of little bits of garbage.

All sorts of things can blow into the yard, making it messy and unsightly.

Take time to have a quick yard cleanup – even if you take half an hour with all the employees and just walk the yard together while enjoying the weather and some time doing something completely different.

By including everyone and making it an important task, it shows people that you take pride in your business and that the little things matter and should to everyone.  This way, when they see some garbage in the future, they will pick it up and do their part.  Then maybe next year, there won’t be so much to pick up!

Make this a priority.  It doesn’t take long to smarten things up and have it look better in no time!

Questions to Ponder:

Is there garbage lying around in your lot?

Does it look messy?

Would it take long to deal with?

How much manpower do you have, if everyone took half an hour together to accomplish the task?

Take the time to do something together out of the norm and see what happens!  For health reasons, just make sure everyone has gloves to complete the task!

Have fun with it – maybe even plan for a bbq on that day to just further the teamwork atmosphere!
