Tip of the Week – One of Those Days – July 29/24

One of those days:  Ever have one of those days…

We all tend to know what that little phrase means.

It means that absolutely everything that could go wrong does and no matter how hard you try or don’t try – that theme continues throughout the day.

Well, yesterday was “one of those days for me”!

I got to work late, email attachments didn’t get attached, a drawer broke when I touched it, the bathroom light went out when I was in there (at work) – that was interesting, any and all little things you could think of going south, went south and the theme continued once I got home.

Everyone is going to have one of these days once in a while – maybe it’s the universe’s way of balancing something out – at least it all tends to happen on this day and life goes back to normal the next…

I tell ya, I laughed all day – my mom came up with a family motto for these days and other times too when you couldn’t really explain the happenings but they just surrounded you – she would say “it’s a good thing you’re cute” and that was it but it definitely implied that smart was definitely not the word of the day!  I want to add that it was never a negative connotation, it was a joke and we all took it that way.

So during that day – it was all that needed to be said and everyone around got it!

I laugh a lot more these days than I ever used to.  I used to get frustrated and try so hard to change this day but it continued regardless of my attitude or thinking.  It just seemed to make it worse when I got frustrated or upset about all those things.

So, yesterday I spent a lot of time laughing and just went with the flow.  It gave a certain ease to the day and as people noticed that I was having one of those days, they just laughed along with me and understood.  We all had a good day – even though I had to do a few things over and over again, etc.

Next time you have one of those days, just embrace it and laugh and see where it goes.  Everyone has those days at one point or another.  Take the time to teach your kids to embrace them and laugh as well.

Questions to Ponder:

Have you had one of those days in the past?

Have you had one recently?

What is your normal response to them?

Do you think you could have an attitude of laughter, lightness and ease the next time around…?  It just might be worth it!
