“August 2022 Spotlight”

Safety

This is an integral part of business and will continue to be.

A majority of companies have included a Health & Safety Manual, Personnel, Department or at least incorporated some documentation with procedures, practices and protocols around Safety for both the benefit of the employees and employers.

The one bonus now as opposed to even 10 years ago, is that there is an abundance of information, templates, videos, images, teachings, items to download online to assist with every aspect of safety.  It is all at your fingertips.

This has been a controversial subject through the years as to how to change the culture to embrace all aspects of Safety.

Safety is a fairly dry and boring subject for people and it can sometimes be hard to get people to engage and contribute.  Try to incorporate as much fun, videos, images and make it practical as much as possible.

People utilize safety in everyday life, we just don’t think about it being part of safety.  If we can incorporate it into our personal life easy enough, it should be an easy transition to put it into action in our work life, without the negative reaction / response and comments.

There are many resources to assist with ideas to help make safety more enjoyable.  Below are a few links:

As safety is something that needs to be discussed regularly and practiced every day, make sure your program works for you and your employees.

Don’t look at safety as something you have to do, change your perspective to something you want to do and find ways to make it interesting, intriguing, and engaging.
