5S Tip: Take 10 minutes a day to organize or clean something in your work area. It could be files, electronic files, desk drawer, work table, locker, tools, just something in your area. If you make a small amount of time daily, over time it will become more organized and easier to locate things. You will also be eliminating things that you no longer need or use – just always be sure you don’t need it before you get rid of it!
In every electronic folder, I keep a subfolder labeled Archived - this is where I put things that are out of date and no longer really need but instead of getting rid of it, I archive it. I have gone back to refer to some of those files, not often but I have and I am glad I have kept them. It also keeps your other files more organized because you keep the most recent version of a file in the main folder and archive any of the older versions. That way you don't lose any of your ideas that may be in a previous version - so don't just save over the file every time - just add a dash, a v and a number behind it and then you know which version it is. For example: filename - v3.docx
