Tip of the Week – Accidents – Aug 7/23

Accidents: What do you consider an accident to be?

Accidents happen throughout our life, both personally and professionally.

Some are minuscule, they can be many different varying sizes and scales, some are massive and some can even end in death.

The thing about accidents is that they are unplanned – they happen and then we have to deal with them the best way we know how.

Accidents are unpredictable and tend to come at the worst time – when we are already dealing with so many things, which has always made me self-reflect that maybe if I was more focused on what I was doing rather than the situation or circumstance I was in, maybe the accident wouldn’t have occurred.  (something I wonder about – no factual information on this, just experience)

It is something that I have been working on – being more present in my life at all times and doing my best to avoid the autopilot situation.  Putting less emphasis on my circumstances, thinking about them less, allowing them to work themselves out without stressing or stewing about them, giving them less power – not because they are small issues, rather just not putting them at the focal point of my life, my day…

Regardless, accidents do happen and they are a part of life – sometimes they are not because of something you did, but rather you were at the wrong place at the wrong time and got hurt – like I said – unplanned – unpredictable…

And they can be life altering, life changing…

Questions to Ponder:

How has an accident changed you or a loved one?

When you self-reflect, can you see that you learned something valuable?

Did something positive come out of it?

Can you see past your anger to self-reflect – have you given yourself the opportunity to do so?

What accident did you have that could have been a lot worse than it was?
