Tip of the Week – Critical Equipment – Mar 28/22

Critical Equipment Tip:  The usual or more known definition of Critical Equipment is any equipment or machinery whose malfunction or failure leads a catastrophic accident that is significantly impact the ability to safely meet business objectives; adversely affect quality levels; violate environmental standards of the business organization. (definition taken from https://www.theprojectdefinition.com/critical-equipment/)

I think it goes further than that.  I have a bit different view as I believe every business of any nature has some Critical Equipment needed to operate their business to the fullest on a daily basis, however, many businesses do not look at it that way.

To me, Critical Equipment is any equipment or machinery whose malfunction or failure significantly impacts the ability to meet business objectives; adversely affect the overall quality; violate environmental standards of the business organization or in general impacts the daily functionality of the overall business.

Questions to Ponder:

What would you consider your critical equipment to be?

If you are not sure, what equipment in your business is absolutely necessary to run the business and that without it, you would not be able to function.  (server, computers, printer, plotter, loader, tractor, truck, trailer, any type of machinery that the business requires to complete the work)

Make a list of your critical equipment (if you don’t already have one), and come up with a plan and budget for each item on the list.
