Tip of the Week – Mentoring – Sept 30/24

Mentoring:  When people retire or move, do you take advantage of the knowledge that they have gained and give them ample time to train the next employee.

Many employers lose out on knowledge sharing when people walk out the door after many years of service.

Granted the new or chosen employee for the position will bring new ideas and concepts, along with their own characteristics and personality but having time with the previous person can be a wealth of knowledge.

Not taking advantage of that knowledge is sets that new person up for failure and creates a sink or swim environment, when it is not necessary.

Gaining and utilizing that knowledge sets the new person up for success and assists in a better work environment.

Questions to Ponder:

Do you have a succession plan in place?

Would having one assist your company and employees?
