Tip of the Week – Reliability – Sept 12/22

Reliability:  Reliability is something that has been a hot topic of discussion in the business realm especially this past decade, but are we successful at implementing the necessary measures to make our establishment more reliable?

There are many different methods and ways to become reliable – it depends first and foremost, where you are currently sitting and assess that to get your benchmark and starting point on your Road to Reliability.

Another point of discussion has been Reliability vs. Validity.

Reliability and validity are concepts used to evaluate the quality of research. They indicate how well a method, technique or test measures something. Reliability is about the consistency of a measure, and validity is about the accuracy of a measure.

It’s important to consider reliability and validity when you are creating your research design, planning your methods, and writing up your results, especially in quantitative research.

When deciding to become more reliable, it is a big commitment, which requires many meetings to be on the same page, a leader to lead the concept and commitment, change the culture, and training if necessary.

Questions to Ponder:

Where are you in the Road to Reliability?

Are you succeeding in your initial goal when you starting down that road?

Do you need to rethink where you are on that road?
